Why we exist
Every film is a set of decisions about who leads, who speaks, and who is left out of frame. Those decisions shape careers, and they shape what audiences come to see as normal.
Black Credits documents those decisions for Black American performers: film by film, role by role, with a source behind every fact. Where the public record is silent, we say so.
Why we focus on Black Americans →Launching the record
We are building the database one verified film at a time. Know a film that belongs here, or a source that documents its casting? Send it in. Every suggestion is checked by a moderator before it is published.
Suggest
Members propose films, credits and sources.
Verify
Moderators check every fact against official or published sources.
Publish
Records go live with sources attached and changes logged.
Community campaigns
Members organise voluntary campaigns around a film's documented casting record. Every campaign keeps verified facts, reported claims and opinion visibly separate, and the choice is always yours.
Our standards
We record identity only from a person's own public statement or a reliable published source. Everyone else is shown as Unknown.
Verified facts, reported claims and community opinion are labelled differently everywhere they appear.
Corrections, disputes and appeals go through moderators, and every edit is logged with its reason and sources.
